The first woman to ask for divorce and lead an army, Eleanor of Aquitaine (1122) lived until she was 82 (pretty good considering most died in their 40s). She got a formal education, which was really rare for women in that era. There are rumours that she poisoned her second husband Henry II’s mistress, the Fair Rosamund.

‘Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things that you didn’t do than by the ones you did do. So throw off the bowlines. Sail away from the safe harbor. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover’
- Mark Twain
I got this tattoo to go along with one of my favorite quotes by Mark Twain. It was done at A Fu Kein Good Tattoo in Jacksonville, Fl.

I got a peacock feather in my ear to remind me every day that I am beautiful. My mom is my best friend; and we have both been completely destroyed. But in the end, we know that we’re strong and can overcome everything. This was probably the most interesting tattoo I have got, haha. It sounded like a dentist drilling your teeth. Everyone asks if it hurt, not even a little. :) it was the best experience ever.
Larry Farley in Michigan did it (he goes to different shops all the time). He has a light hand, and he is by far the best tattoo artist I’ve ever had.

This fierce lady is Juana Galán. She was a Spanish heroine known for beating Napoleon’s troops out of her village during the Peninsula War (1808-1814). During the Battle of Valdepeñas in June, 1808, there weren’t enough men to defend the village from invading French troops. Juana, who was about 21 years old at the time, immediately rallied all of the women in the village to plan a defense strategy. When the French troops marched into the village, the women dumped boiling oil on top of them. As for Juana? She stood in the street with a large club and beat seven shades of shit out of any French soldier that crossed her path. The French beat a hasty retreat from the village, never to return, and Juana was declared a hero. Her combined intelligence, courage, beauty, and general badassery make Juana my ultimate history crush.
